We integrate environmental protection, education and public health into our programs. The organization promotes agricultural education through Regenerative Farmer Schools, empowers youth and women as green entrepreneurs, and partners with research institutions to develop climate-smart, organic solutions tailored to the Burundian context.

By combining local knowledge with global expertise, BORA Alliance seeks to transform Burundi's agricultural landscape into a model of regeneration—where farming sustains people, protects nature, and inspires regional and international collaboration for a greener future.

How the project has grown

From the first idea to where the work stands today.

Concept2022
The idea was born in 2022, designed by crop scientists from Africa University to restore soil health, empower families, and promote regenerative agriculture.
In development
Early training programs were prepared, focusing on composting, mulching, crop rotation, agroforestry and bio-fertilizer production. Partnerships and community mobilisation began.
Active2024current stage
More than 300 students have been trained to establish Climate Smart Nutrition Gardens for vegetables without inorganic fertilizers. The project is currently operational, delivering visible results in soil fertility, yields and nutrition.
Completed
The project has already achieved significant milestones, including recognition by the government, who visited to witness its impact. Documentation of outcomes and scaling strategies are underway.
