Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

This text was drafted by the web team as a starting point and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Please have it checked against Burundian law before launch.

1. The short version

We collect only what you give us through our forms, we use it only to reply to you or to send the newsletter you asked for, and we do not sell it to anyone.

2. What we collect

When you contact us: your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, and your message.

When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address, and your name if you provide one.

When you send a partnership or donation enquiry: your name, email address, organisation, country, the amount you wish to pledge if you state one, and your message.

Our servers also record the IP address a form was submitted from, which helps us block automated spam.

3. Why we collect it

To answer your message, to send you the newsletter if you asked for it, and to keep a record of partnership enquiries. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Who can see it

Only BORA Alliance staff with an administrator account on this website. We do not sell, rent or trade your details. We share information with others only where the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

Contact messages and enquiries are kept for as long as they are useful to the work, and then deleted. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.

6. Cookies

This site uses cookies only to remember your choices, such as whether you have dismissed the cookie notice. We do not use advertising cookies.

7. Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Every newsletter includes a way to unsubscribe. To make a request, use the contact details on our contact page.

8. Photographs

We photograph our trainings and the gardens we help establish. We ask permission before photographing people, and we seek the consent of a parent or guardian before publishing photographs of children. If you appear in a photograph on this site and want it removed, tell us and we will remove it.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, the updated version will appear on this page.
