About BORA Alliance
A grassroots alliance for resilience, cooperation and solidarity in rural Burundi.
Our story
The Burundi Organic Regenerative Agriculture Alliance (BORA Alliance) was founded and registered in 2022 by crop scientists from Africa University, inspired by a vision to restore soils, strengthen families and empower communities through sustainable agriculture. Emerging as a grassroots initiative, BORA Alliance quickly positioned itself as a catalyst for resilience, cooperation and solidarity in rural Burundi.
From its inception, the Alliance focused on addressing poverty, food insecurity and social challenges by promoting regenerative farming practices that honour both the environment and community wellbeing. In 2025, the Government of Burundi formally recognized and accepted BORA Alliance as a trusted partner in national development. Today, BORA Alliance stands as a beacon of innovation and hope, committed to transforming agriculture into a tool for health, dignity and prosperity.
